Candy Time is a quartet presenting an unusul collection of modern jazz originals along side new and surprising arrangements of rarities by Miles Davis, Coltrane and Monk. They also perform little known but beautiful jazz standards, a tribute to the piano blues of Jimmy Yancey, a ragtime bass guitar feature and a bizarre treatment of two Irish jigs. A group whose vocabulary covers a vast dynamic range, they are here promoting their exciting debut album.

James Woodrow (Guitar) is a player who crosses easily between the classical and jazz worlds. His work with bands such as Just East of Jazz, The Gavin Bryars Ensemble, Incantation, the London Sinfonietta, Icebreaker ,Cathal Coughlanıs Grand Necropolitan Quartet, and many others has brought to his playing an unusual blend of jazz, classical, rock and blues. As a classical musician his collaborations with dance companies have included Merce Cunningham, Richard Alston, Siobhan Davies, Shobana Jayasingh, and Rambert.

In CandyTime he has joined forces with three of his longstanding musical partners.

Tim Holmes (Saxophone) is one of London's most respected saxophonists. He has performed with Loose Tubes and Itchy Fingers and is a regular with classical groups such as the London Sinfonietta, Lontano and with all the major London orchestras. His band Kups won the GLAA Young Jazz Musicians of the Year award in 1981. His compositions form a large part of the Candy Time set.

Phil Scragg (Bass) performs with the Gail Thompson Big Band, Just East Of Jazz, Kelvin Christiane, Sax Appeal and Clare Hirst. He has worked with the late Dudu Pukwana, with Robert Plant, Incantation and the Beautiful South. He has also been involved with the Choreodrome project at the Place Theatre and writes music for both film and television.
